Businessmen Felipe Vicini and David Collado, received from President Leonel Fernández, the two very first film law tax incentives certificates, which are framed within the mandate comprised in Film Law 108-10.

Felipe Vicini of INDOMINA received his certificate on account of his participation in the movie “The Truth”, while David Collado received it for his production “The King of Najayo”. Mr. Rafael Núnez received Mr. Collado’s certificate on his behalf.

The ceremony took place in the Ambassadors Hall of the National Palace, where Ellis Pérez, Managing Director of DG Cine, and Eddy Martínez, Director of the Center for Exports and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) were also in attendance.

In his speech, Ellis Pérez pointed out the great potential the Dominican Republic offers to the film industry. He guaranteed that the country has a firm commitment with this sector and, in consequence, the Film Law will be duly and fully complied with.

“I recently ran into some international film producers, whom approached me, very interested in coming to the country, but they expressed their fear that said Law is not abided by. I assured them that this is our commitment and are interested in developing the film industry in the country”, he said.

He pointed out that yesterday was a significant moment for Dominican cinematography, because in just barely a year of work, they have attracted renowned film producers in coming to the country to film their productions.
