President Medina inaugurates the “Water Tank” in modern motion picture studio

Featuring the presence of President Danilo Medina, the “Water Tank” was formally launched, for water filming productions in Juan Dolio. The inauguration of Pinewood Indomina Studios will be formalized when the first phase of the construction is concluded. President Medina made the tour all throughout the Pinewood Indomina Studios facilities, where he formally inaugurated the Water Tank, 2nd largest worldwide.

This studio is being developed by Vicini. The main speech was pronounced by Mr. Felipe Vicini, whom emphasized on the legal certainty offered in the country. “This Water Tank is the 2nd largest in the world and features the most modern engineering and technology in this type of installation. It is formally operational today, what to many was a dream, and as of today, is now a reality” said Vicini.

At the same time, he highlighted the investment made by the IFC of the World Bank, a corporation that has committed USD$20 million to the project, in addition to facilitating an additional USD$10 million through syndication.  “These foreign and local investments will promote the development of the film industry inland and will also create over 10,000 jobs in the next five-year term”, added Vicini. Vicini thanked the support given by the President so that the film industry can be a reality and thrive in the Dominican Republic, by formally inaugurating the facilities.

“We also want to thank our Pinewood partners, a British company with vast experience in film production. Pinewood has bestowed trust in us and in the investment climate offered by the country, to have invested in such an important project as this one”, said VICINI.

Vicini was joined by his siblings Juan and Amelia Vicini, as well as by Hugo Swire, Foreign Affairs Minister for Latin America of the United Kingdom and Mr. Nick Smith, Commercial Director of Pinewood Shepperton.
